Custom Handcrafted Quilt: "Fractured Paint Box"

This handcrafted quilt was constructed and quilted by Julie Pettyjohn. The Fractured Paint Box pattern is from the Timeless Treasures Heirloom Collection by Judy and Brad Niemeyer with Quiltworx. This piece is a batik fabric front, wool batting, and quality cotton fabric backing. The binding is machine stitched on front and hand stitched on back. The block quilting design was digitized and purchased from Quiltworx specifically for the Fractured Paint Box pattern. The border is stitched with a piano key border pattern designed by Christy Dillon and perfectly completes this amazing piece of quilt craftsmanship.

Foundation Paper Piecing is a technique for piecing that provides accurate points. The Judy Niemeyer paper foundation patterns are upscale in design and technique. Judy Niemeyer patterns take skill, training, and experience in order to perfect. The result, though, is always a thing of beauty. Even at first glance one can see this is a special artisan piece of work. Batik fabrics go through a unique dying process. Rest assured that your quilt is always made with the highest quality products from Pettyjohn Quilting & Arts. When it comes to quilts, we never use discount or low thread count materials. All fabric is quilt-shop quality, the batting is made by Quilter’s Dream (the best in the industry) and thread in this quilt is Glide thread by Fil-Tec. Having said that, note that hand-crafted products are never 100% perfect as they are not manufactured and turned out quickly. You can use this piece as a wall hanging or cuddle up under it as you watch a movie. Wash in cold water. Use a Shout Color Catcher the first few washes, and never thoroughly dry, but let hang dry.
