Pricing

OPTION 1

Edge-to-Edge

Edge-to-edge is 2 cents per square inch plus thread charge.

OPTION 2

Custom

Custom starts at 3 cents per square inch.

  • Up to 4 designs per quilt of computerized designs

  • Free motion and ruler work starts at 3 cents per square inch

  • For dense quilting that will require more time, the cost will be 4 cents or 5 cents/square inch.

  • Note: If you want detailed free motion, we will determine the cost at the time of your appointment to order. You will not be caught off-guard and surprised by the cost.

How do I calculate the price?

You can calculate your cost by multiplying your width times your length to get your square inches. Next, multiply that number by .02 for E2E or .03 for custom.

Example:
A quilt that is 60 x 74 = 4,440 square inches. Multiplied by .02 = $88.80 for edge-to-edge or 4,440 x .03 = $133.20 for custom.

Additional pricing information

Thread Charge: I will add a $5.00 thread charge (possibly slightly less or slightly more) PLUS sales tax. I have to add a small thread charge because no tax is put on your quilting service, but thread is a taxable item.

Batting: Top quality batting is available for purchase or you may provide your own. Approximately $20 to $30 will be your batting cost, depending on which batting you choose and quantity. Tax will be added to batting. Batting must be 8” longer and 8” wider than your quilt top.

Backing: You must provide the backing fabric for your quilt. It needs to be at least 8” longer and 8” wider than your quilt top. If you are using a 40” width fabric, you will need to cut it and piece it together before you bring it. Please have it prepared and ready to be quilted. If yardage is brought and needs to be prepared, an additional charge of $10 will be added to prepare backing.

Batting Prices:

Quilter’s Dream Wool: $12.50 yard
Quilter’s Dream Cotton: $11.50 yard
Quilter’s Dream Poly: $10 yard

Binding Services:
You provide fabric: 14 cents per linear inch (Linear is length. For linear you add. For square inch, you multiply.)

l1 + l2 + w1 + w2 = linear inches

NEW Binding Service Option: I can stitch your binding onto the front of your quilt and it will be ready for you to hand sew the back. Bring me prepared binding. This means the binding length must equal the perimeter of the quilt plus 16 inches. It shoud be cut 2-1/2” wide and be pressed over in half. Baby and full size quilts: $5. Queen and King quilts: $10.

FAQs

How do I prepare my quilt top for longarm quilting services?

  1. All three pieces (quilt top, batting, and backing) must be given to me separately. Do not sew them together in a sandwich.

  2. Batting and Backing: Both pieces need to measure 8 inches wider than your quilt top (4 inches per side) & 8 inches larger than quilt top in length (4 inches at top & 4 at bottom)

The size of your batting and backing is crucial. It won’t work if it is the same size.

Will an image of my quilt be shared on the Pettyjohn Quilting & Arts website?

I post photos of what I am working on and may use your quilt in my gallery and in advertisements. If you do not want your quilt to be used, please advise me of your request. Thank you.

What is the shipping & delivery cost?
